What is Outlook Express Error 0x800CCC0F?

This error message reads:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.yourdomain.com', Server: 'mail.yourdomain.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

To solve this problem, please check the following items:

1. Check your settings. Make sure you have entered the information in as it is outlined in How do I configure my email in Outlook Express? Make sure that you have used the correct username, password and server settings. Check for any typing errors.
2. Check your internet connection to ensure it is stable. You can contact your internet service provider if you notice a loss of signal on your modem.
3. Check your antivirus settings. If you're using Symantec, you can go here for some additional information on the error. If you have email protection set up, you can also find information for removing it in the newer versions of Norton Antivirus.
4. Microsoft provides information on troubleshooting general Outlook settings here if you are still having issues..
